Sol Cresta takes the docking and formation strategies of old-fashioned shooter games Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta and elevates them by introducing the “free-form docking” method. The main character, Yamato, composed of the ships Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susano will be able to employ a range of different attacks determined by the manner in which three of the ships are aligned. Separating, docking, and refitting the vessels when necessary is essential in defeating the invading army of Mandler.
